Announcing the SageWalk Reunion and Retreat
June 15 - 18, 2006
Over the years many parents and students have asked for a SageWalk reunion- something fun yet focused on reconnecting, remembering old skills and gathering a few new ones. Therefore we are pleased to announce and invite you to attend our first Reunion and Retreat.
Our primary focus is to have some fun river rafting down the beautiful North Umpqua River in late June. The location is about 150 miles from our Redmond offices. We will have two half days of rafting and the rest of the time will be dedicated to visiting, reconnecting, improving communications skills, personal growth and general appreciation for what has been accomplished. The R&R will be for graduates and their families who are basically doing well and would like to have some fun together revisiting old SageWalk territory. Siblings age 10 and older are also invited.
Beautiful and Action-Packed
Set amidst the wilderness areas and national forests of the Southern Oregon Cascades, the North Umpqua River is one of the most beautiful rivers in the Northwest. Towering Douglas fir forests line this steep and rugged canyon, shading the crystal clear water as it leaps and cascades through steep gorges and boulder-strewn rapids. With 25 significant rapids and numerous smaller ones in a little over 20 miles the Umpqua delivers one of the most fun and enjoyable paddle rafting experiences in the Northwest. We set up a base-camp at one of our favorite riverside locations that includes a pavilion and raft some of the exciting whitewater in two half day excursions. Short van shuttles are provided to and from base camp during the course of the trip.
Reconnecting and Meaningful
In addition, besides the action journey we will be covering some distance on the emotional journey. Over time we often forget some of the simple tools that allowed us to be successful in the past. As we join together in a playful common experience we remember them again. This is the power of reconnecting. We remind ourselves of that which has been and appreciate what we have learned.
We will be using the metaphors of playing/working together, insightful gaming, sharing food and experiences around the campfire, and most importantly, enjoying each other’s company in the beautiful northwest forest. Rain or shine it will be a grand time.
Cost: $495 per person (includes everything but personal items, sleeping bag and pad)
Please contact the office for our application process and itinerary as soon as possible because time’s a flyin’ and spaces are limited.
We hope you can join us in June. We look forward to seeing you. Aho!
